IN THE BEGINNING
Sammy Styles found break-dancing at the age of 13 and like most guys at that age, he had too much energy and no place to put it. While many of his friends followed the path of drugs, gangs, and prisons, Sammy’s family encouraged him to follow his passion and because of this, he is now one of the top professionals, flown across the globe, teaching hundreds of students, performing in major shows, and filming commercials and motion pictures.
“Breaking taught me to be focused, self-disciplined, to work hard, respect my body and mind, study, learn, set goals, and achieve them.” (Sammy Styles, 2010 “Le Progres” French national news article).
HOLLYWOOD
Sammy’s parents got him involved in acting at a young age where he thrived, particularly in comedy. “I have always considered myself more of a performer than a dancer” (Sammy Styles on “BreakdanceMagazine.com” interview) At the age of 16 Sammy was signed with the renowned Jack Lipman Talent agency in Hollywood California were he pursued his career in the commercial and film industry.
He is now making his transformation to the production side of Hollywood; having already directed, edited, filmed, and produced various commercials and short films. He has also completed 3 feature-length screenplays under the mentorship of veteran writer/director Joseph Scanlan, and writer John O’Brien. Sammy Styles is currently working on an untitled documentary project, which follows him on a 6 month world-wide dance tour.
ACCOMPLISHMENTS
In 2009 Sammy Styles developed a standardized JUDGING SYSTEM, which awarded him the opportunity to judge professional dance competitions across the world. As a performer Sammy has toured North and Central America, as well as North Africa, and Europe, including Tunisia, Switzerland, France, Germany, Belgium, Scotland, England, Wales, and Mexico, most recently performing for “Fete De La Musique” in Lyon France, and the “Grammy Dance Awards” in California were he and the L.A. Breakers won “Best Crew Of The Year”.
Aside from the “in production” docudrama about his life and training, he was most recently seen as the break-dancing janitor in Hollywood feature film, “Freak Dance”. He can also be seen in various commercials and industrial shows releasing this year, having already completed work for numerous companies including Red Bull, Diesel, Gatorade, Vans, Panic Clothing, Education Athletics, Simple Shoes, Robeks, Eme-Gear, and more.
GIVING BACK
Sammy has always been a supporter of the youth. At the age of 15 Sammy organized two national competitions to raise money and awareness for youth centers on the verge of extinction. Sammy Styles prides himself in teaching the younger generation.
“My parents were very supportive of me and many kids don’t have that, so it’s important that we help, not guide them, but show them a way to guide themselves. That’s what breakin did for me” (Sammy Styles documentary interview). “The L.A. Breakers and I work to provide opportunities like this in communities around the world… [We] have witnessed how programs such as this literally save lives” (2009 Le Progres Interview). Sammy Styles has taught workshops in numerous states and countries as well as being the principal teacher for an in-depth tutorial video, set to release in 2011 by Fresh Styles Videos.

He continues his acrobatics training at the famous White Lotus Martial Arts Center.
